This weekend Jared and I went to a local park and searched , mostly hunting for coins and jewelry. (This park is 150 years old, but we never made it over near the old part with the largest trees around, there was too many targets!!!)

Good ol Lucky

I decided to hop on my motorbike (fondly nicknamed Lucky) this evening to go for a ride. She has been neglected in not being ridden for a few weeks due to the weather and lack of time. I rode around the area on some country roads for about 45 minutes. The sun was getting low in the west, and only the roar of the four 30 year old Asian pistons was in my ears. As I got within a few miles of town I had the thought that I smelled gas. I trudged onward. As I slowed coming into town she almost died, stuttered a few times and I limped her to the closest gas station where as I slowed to turn in, she died. I pulled in the clutch and coasted to a stop in a parking space. Well, upon investigation I had a leak from a secondary gas tank line and it had leaked out all my fuel. I asked the attendant for a pair of scissors, and bought a sharpie marker. As I walked out the door I opened and threw away the package and the sharpie, leaving only the cap and scissors. I cut the line, stuffed the cap in, and brought back the scissors. I put in a gallon of gas (which unbelievably was under $2) I made my was home and it was only then did I realize that I had not gotten upset, angry, worried, frustrated, or anxious. I had a problem, and I calmly solved it the best way I had available to me. This little experience and the way I reacted really showed me the bond of man and machine.

Gold Find Today!

Went to a local park for a few minutes today before Survivor came on and found a nice little gold necklace and some modern coins. Its fun finding stuff! Also some pics of the faux book I keep my neater finds in. Hundreds of modern coins worth only face value are kept seperate in a little mini treasure chest box.

Its getting a little chilly!!!

Getting some last few Fall weather activities in before the cold is here to stay. Have been taking the motorbike out a few times a week and metal detecting regularly with a friend. Some of the good finds lately have been a 14k Jesus Fish ring, antique sterling pillbox, and a 1939 wheat penny.

I didn't forget!!!

Sorry with the lack of updates lately. Been very busy at work, and hustling trying to get my latest toy rolling a few times round before the weather starts to get chilly. A 78 honda cb550. It was in a barn and hadnt been started in 10 years, and hadn't been registered for 24. I have modified it a bit to a more vintage european look. Often called a "cafe racer" (but more on that later), and got it running nicely. I am not going to currently "restore" it, as it is my first motorcycle and I'm sure it will get a little beat up. Nothing else exciting that I can think of.

I have a grand list of things I'd like to do and see in my life. Yesterday I marked one off.

Simple problem, How do you get a car shell up on a trailer? Big tractor, chains and ropes, and a tree limb.



It got about 6 feet up, and CRACK, gravity won. What a sight. HAHA. So muh fun it should be illegal.

1 SWEET FISH

I picked up my first hotrod today. 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Coupe. What a beautiful piece of junk. It will need one framerail, quarter panel and front fender patches, floorpans and rocker panels. It will be a long project but well worth saving and a good investment to boot. I will probably be "Gone Fishin" for quite some time.

Pulling Engines, Found Necklace...

A few pictures of the pull ... the car is almost ready for the junkyard.

A few days back while stopping at Mom and Dads for some dinner I spent a few minutes detecting their yard. It was a beautiful evening, so I just scanned around for 20 minutes, not finding anything interesting. I then showed Mom how to use it and let her try. I followed her around the yard with nothing scanning, and then a good beep. I dug it and up pulled up this. Nice little sterling silver pendant. It was a fun find for us!! Talk about beginners luck! Mom and Dad didn't recognize it, so it must have been lost by a friend over the years?? Or maybe one of my sisters???

In other news, I start the new job tommorow, I hope all goes well...

Whew!!

Been busy!! Whats going on?? Well, I am starting a new job on the 21st. I was offered a decent gig at a local business called Auto Additions. They install all auto accessories, from leather upolstery to navigation systems, sunroofs, dvd and multimedia and audio systems and more. I think I will learn a lot there and have a unique skill-set to bring to the shop.

The blue Focus svt is almost done, I need to finish taking everything off it this week. All I have left to pull is the motor and transmission. I spent the day today fishing out the wiring harness from the engine bay, and getting ready for the pull..... Think thats about it!!

I Have been enjoying a new album this week. Its called Sleep Through the Static by Jack Johnson. Check it out below, its just a blank video with music. I have been listening to his music for about 5 years now. He is from Hawaii. All his albums come in a case made from recycled cardboard and this one was produced completely on solar genterated eletricity. I am suprised the CD wasn't recycled cow patties.
